'MY FIRST EVER WATER COLOUR PAINTING'

I have been asked many times over the years and by some of you on dA if have or if I can do water colour.

As you all know I specialise in realism graphite drawings so the simple answer is.. Not really.

This was until last week when I attended my local art sociaty. In September 2014, I'm taking my first ever graphite drawing art tutorial class at my local art sociaty.  So last week I went along to another artists art class to get some idea on how to present to the class.

This was the 2nd class like this that I had attended.. The last one was a class about painting in acrylics. In this class I, like everyone else just sat and listened to the artist talking his way through a painting that he did.

This artists class was 'how to paint in water colour' and to my surprise when I walked in I realised that this was a workshop and all the students had there easels and water colour art equipment out and were obviously going to be joining in.

I had had bought no equipment or materials with me so I ended up borrowing paper, a pencil, brushes, paints and even a glass of water and was thrown in at the deep end and had to paint a woodland scenery.

After spending two hours in the classroom I took the painting home and decided to finish it off with some old water colour pencils I found in my art draw.

Here is is the finished piece. I don't know if this was how it was suppose to turn out? I think it looks more like an oil or acrylic painting??

But hey ho I don't think it is bad for my 1st ever try with water colour? Feel free to leave a comment or constructive feedback.

Hopefully I will do something else with water colour at some point.
